Re: So what got you....
Sun, November 21, 2004 - 1:31 AM*pouts* Oh, poop! I wanted to be the first to post! :P *hehe* Oh, well. :D
Hi Freedom! Ummmm... Hey, wait! You didn't say what got you into them!
Okay, I'll go first. (Even though I'm a wee bit short on sleep. Got up nice and early for workshops & costume approval, don't'cha' know... :P )
I think it was about the time I started working at faire. I had always loved horses. (I know, not always the same similarities of critter.) Around that time, I also read the romance novel "The Golden Unicorn", by Phyllis A. Whitney. (I think I read on www.deadoraliveinfo.com that she is currently 100! Anyway, back to the subject.) Every time the object was mentioned in the story, I pictured it as silver, not gold. (Mostly because I prefer Silver. Really?? No kidding??? *hehe*) I think I did my first year of faire, just after I read the book. I bought my first Silver Unicorn necklace from "Designs by Sher" at faire that year, too. (The word "Unicorn" (-and the picture-) on the cover of the book is what caught my interest. I hadn't read a 'romance' novel before. The 'lookout Ranger' said he had just finished reading it, and gave it to me. I think that was summer of '75? Maybe '76??)
Then I was given a cool Unicorn rubber stamp from Rubberstampede. It sort of snowballed from there.
I think I liked them all along, but just didn't realize it until then.
About a year or so ago, I found a website called "Exist", that was about the Unicorn "party". Oddly enough, it described my religious beliefs to a "T"!!!. I think the website got killed though. :C I haven't been able to get it to come up for quite some time, now. (I wish I had copy and pasted the description of what they were about, somewhere, so I'd still have it.)
Anyway, ummmm...that's all I can think of right now. -

Re: So what got you....
Thu, February 3, 2005 - 5:45 PMI have loved unicorns as far back as I can remember. As a little girl I collected anything with unicorns on it, stuffed unicorns, unicorn coloring books, etc. Part of what got me into them might have been the movie "The Last Unicorn", which I saw when I was little and which I own a copy of now. :-) -
